Featured app
Sunny
Weather with the evidence left in. A website and mobile app that make radar, forecast disagreement, and the night sky easy to read.
Visit live websiteThe brief
A single forecast number hides how much the sources disagree. Sunny needs to communicate uncertainty without making the everyday question — what is the weather doing? — harder to answer.
The approach
Lead with the sky overhead, keep the current reading large, and put source comparisons one level deeper. Today and Tonight give daytime conditions and the night sky their own clear places in the same interface.
What people use instead
The default weather app
What it does wellAlready on the phone, legible at a glance, and asks nothing of you. For most days that is genuinely the right product.
Where it left a gapOne number, no provenance. When it is wrong you have no way to know whether it was a close call or a model disagreeing loudly with four others, so you never learn how much to trust it tomorrow.
AccuWeather
What it does wellDeep forecasting with long-range detail and minute-level precipitation timing, built on serious meteorological work.
Where it left a gapIt still resolves to one confident answer. The spread between models — the part that tells you how certain today's forecast actually is — is the input, not the output.
Disagreement is the product. Seven services and eleven models shown side by side, with a public scorecard of which has actually been right.

A distinct character.
A dark instrument panel, warm orange controls, and deliberate use of weather color. The interface gives the conditions more visual weight than the chrome.

05 / Design in practice
The details do the work.
Map first
Radar occupies the top of the app, placing the forecast in its geographic context.
A clear day/night split
Today and Tonight share a familiar shell while changing the information underneath.
Color carries meaning
Orange marks action; forecast and radar colors describe the weather itself.
